Make Your Own Type of Music
Daniel added to his record analogy saying that the record had stopped, but they were on the wrong song. It reminded me of the beginning scene of season 2 with Desmond putting a record on the Hatch player and going about his morning routine, which was part of his daily life being trapped in the Hatch on the island. The song had the lines “Make your own music”. Which is a way of saying be yourself even when you become part of a group.

In this episode we see Sawyer, Juliet & the group blending into the Dharma Initiative. But the individuals that stood out did so by being themselves and using their natural talents. Sawyer was a natural Conman, and those abilities helped him to be able to become part of Dharma, keep the truce between the Hostiles & Dharma & eventually find Jack, Kate & Hurley. Juliet was able to be herself and gain her confidence back by using her abilities to help Amy give birth. I loved how they helped each other out, Juliet by putting confidence in Sawyer to lead and Sawyer giving Juliet confidence by helping her trust that if she did help Amy give birth that the baby killing curse wouldn’t happen again. That it possibly hadn’t happened yet.

Fertility
Speaking of Fertility while looking online for another project I read that the Egyptian symbol for Fertility is shown a number of times in the episode. Apparently the tattoo on one of the Hostiles is the sign for female fertility. Also the necklace of Paul’s that Amy takes is another symbol for fertility. Some also say that giant statue in the beginning was also holding the same symbol. Last season Ben’s house was decorated with African masks and other things that stood for fertility. And this isn’t the first time that we have seen Egyptian symbols. During the push the button days of season 2 when the countdown went to zero Egyptian symbols were displayed which meant underworld if I remember correctly. Then this season when we got to see one of the Smoke Monster’s Cerberus Vents there was also Egyptian symbols there. I don’t have a theory quite yet on all of that, but I find it quite interesting.

Whatever Happened Happened
I found it interesting when Sawyer said that, because that’s the title of a future episode. So my guess is that in the next few Dharma episodes we will finally get to see how the infertility problems started. Also we know that Daniel will spend sometime trying to get Charlotte to leave the island and from the season opener that he will be on his own mission that has to do with the frozen donkey wheel. Looking at the timeline Young Ben arrives on the island around this time so somehow we will probably get more info on Dharma, the Truce and Ben planning the purge with Richard. That’s what I’m guessing anyway. Two weeks can’t come quick enough.
