Based upon the idea and outline of the LOST AICN TB crew member Node/HoboCode, this project brings us the Michael Dawson arc throughout the show LOST.

This cut begins with the "two-fer" in the hatch and the release of Benry. Walt and Michael's release soon follows, at the price of having to watch 3 of their friends bound and gagged by the others. The resulting psychological imapact from the decisions Michael made has maade him suicidal...something the island won't allow - as explained by Mr. Friendly. So Michael has a task, a way to redeem himself if he can pull it off. His redemption begins...

Whose Picture, What Frame, and Why?

As a bit of fun, I thought I would address the infamous "Picture Controversy" from Season 4 Episode 2, Presumed Dead.

In the scene, Miles enters the house of woman who wishes her son to be put at rest. The picture on the wall, which is hung on by the camera twice, seems to be a message of sorts from writer to viewer. The picture has a striking resemblance to Mr Eko and what is found in "Eko's" room
just happenes to be a wad of cash and heroin...the product of choice for Mr Eko in his younger years. Another strange event is the frames all change from the time Miles enters the house to the time he finishes and walks back down the stairs.

Same Picture Once again...Except this is as Miles is leaving. Notice the frames have changed in every picture, though it appears the pictures are the same.

So - it requires some leaps, but the pictures themselves are so close to each other it is a convincing arguement that the boy grandma is worried about is Eko. Also, the way the camera holds position on the pictures leads the viewer to think there is some importance to the picture.

August 6, 2008 - Lost's fourth season started off introducing four new characters – the main representatives of what some fans call "the freighter folk." One of these four is Charlotte Lewis, an anthropologist played by Rebecca Mader. Like most of the others, she has a mysterious past, though eyebrows were certainly raised by the revelation in the season finale that she was born on the island. With just a few weeks left until production begins on Season 5 of Lost, we had the chance to speak to the Mader to find out what it's been like joining a show as huge -- and analyzed by fans -- as this one.

BSkyB has unveiled the biggest overhaul of the on-air look of flagship entertainment channel Sky One in its 20-year history, with idents featuring Lost star Naveen Andrews and Bones' David Boreanaz.

Sky's first use of on-screen talent in channel idents forms part of a radical rebrand of its entertainment services, based on the theme of "solids, liquids and particles".

The new on-air look, supported by five new themed promotional idents to push the channels, will go live at 6pm on August 31, when the broadcaster's autumn schedule launches.Sky's facelift for its entertainment programming will see Sky One, Sky Two and Sky Three rebranded as Sky1, Sky2 and Sky3.

The branding strategy also aims to better marry key programmes such as Lost, Prison Break and Bones to the on-air channel identity, with on-air promos featuring talent."On my very first meeting after I joined we discussed the look of the channels. I felt that [the look of] Sky One wasn't fitting in with the new direction and strategy I envisaged," said Richard Woolfe, controller of Sky 1, 2, and 3. "It represented programming from a different time and era in Sky1's history.

We are about Lost, 24, Prison Break, Gladiators and our own dramas. Now both programmes and brand values on and off air are in alignment.

"The aim of the relaunch is to broaden the view of Sky's entertainment channel and create a "premium champion brand" for Sky1.

BSkyB's in-house agency, Sky Creative, has created a brand theme across the family of entertainment channels based on the various "elements" or "states" that objects can take.Sky1 is represented by a solid blue number "1", Sky2 by a green liquid number "2" and Sky3 as pink particles in a number "3".

Each of the channel's natural states is revealed in action scenes in the five idents that have been developed – two of which feature Andrews, who plays former Iraqi soldier Sayid in Lost, and Boreanaz, the former star of Buffy and Angel.

Boreanaz is seen in a target range shooting at the three Sky channel logos, each of which disintegrate in accordance with the state that each represents.Andrews gets disoriented in Lost-style fog and ends up having his mind read by the Sky logos.

"We are starting to get a real family of faces and we want the channels to be better associated with programming. It makes the family of channels stronger," said Andi Granger, the creative director at Sky Creative. Other idents such as "whack-a-mole", which features a family at a fair ground bashing Sky channel numerals with a soft club as they pop out of holes, will be used to promote a wider range of entertainment shows such as Gladiators and the Simpsons.

The Little ARG That Failed

This doesn't really have much to do with Lost, but I thought that it was kind of funny since Dharma is currently "marketing" to us through their ARG game.

Between the giant banners advertising the D-9 alternate reality game (ARG) with anti-alien slogans, beyond the Dharma Initiative recruitment booth, there was a little stack of postcards at Comic-Con that read "You are being deceived — www.youarebeingdeceived.com." It was the calling card for an ARG that nobody saw. How do I know? Because io9 built the You Are Being Deceived ARG, complete with a phone number you can call and two mysterious linked URLs, as an experiment in marketing and mass deception. What happens when you try to deceive people but your lies are drowned out by better-funded lies? Allow me to recount our strange tale.

We had grown sick of all the ARG marketing schemes for movies like The Dark Knight, which try to drum up fan support and brand recognition for forthcoming franchises with semi-mysterious websites and phone numbers and instructions on where to buy a cake that has an iPhone in it. Profoundly uncreative, the Batman ARG had done little more than inspire a lot of people to wear Joker makeup. While other ARGs are more fun and thought-provoking, we felt that in general ARG-making had become so bland that you could practically never tell what the games were about. They're little more than walk-in ads.

So we schemed, and said to ourselves, "Well what if we came up with an ARG that was so generic that people would think it was related to practically every movie coming out next year?" Seemed like a sure win — people would see the ARG and start guessing "Oh it's for GI Joe," or "It's for Watchmen." But we wanted our super-generic ARG to be a commentary on the super-generic nature of ARGs too, which is a rather tall order.

You Are Being Deceived was carefully crafted to seem as if it could be about Watchmen, G.I. Joe, or Heroes. Well, carefully crafted might be too strong a phrase — perhaps "slapped together in a caffeine-induced frenzy" would be more accurate. We put together the basic ingredients of every generic ARG: a "personal blog" written by somebody who has gotten into a huge conspiracy they don't understand and is telling you all about it; a corporate website from the conspiracy-manufacturing company (why do all ARGs include fake corporations?), and a phone number you can call (listed on the blog) to get more clues about the conspiracy.

We even invented a back story about how an evil corporation is controlling superheroes and the populace via a chemically-enhanced television signal. On the You Are Being Deceived blog, you'll see the main character, code-named Sheep Snake, who discovers that all her paranoid theories about chemtrails are nothing compared to the mind-control plot hatched by her employer Elegiac International. Using superheroes (like, say, the ones in Heroes or Watchmen), they're selling this thing called RapidEnhance that's already being used on soldiers (like, say, the ones in G.I. Joe). When Sheep Snake discovers the plot, then gets a FedEx package with her friend's severed arm in it, she goes on the run with a plan to stop Elegiac from turning the whole world into TV-watching, mind-controlled drones.

So why didn't anybody call Sheep Snake's voice mail, or send us e-mails, or even look at our ARG? You can claim it's because the ARG was lame, and that wouldn't be entirely inaccurate. But was it really lamer than the Batman ARG, which was just a website with a few messages telling people to dress up like the Joker to see some footage?

What's more likely is that nobody saw our ARG because we didn't have tens of thousands of dollars to promote it. We printed out 1000 postcards, and thought we'd just hand them out to people — even if only a few saw it, they might blog about it and it could spread via word-of-mouth. We even enlisted the extremely non-devious-looking Gina Trapani from Lifehacker to hand out our cards so nobody would guess it was the io9 crew behind it. She tried handing them out in the Expo, and was promptly kicked out for handing out postcards without having a booth. Without a ton of cash to pay for giant signs, a booth, or to hire people to hand out millions of cards outside the Convention Center, there was no way we could get our ARG started. We wound up handing the cards out surreptitiously, but mostly we left them out on the "freebies" table where they disappeared (but to where?).

Ah, you say with a cynical smile, you are so naive. Did you really think you puny creatures with your 1000 cheap postcards printed with a URL could put even a tiny dent in the promotional juggernaut that is Comic-Con? The simple answer is yes, we really did. I think that's partly because we'd actually fallen for the ARG hype, despite the fact that we'd criticized it and should have known better. We imagined that ARGs really could be kind of grassroots and DiY, and that people would want to go to a cool URL like YouAreBeingDeceived. We thought our snarky little ARG might stir up some shit. But we deceived ourselves.

ARGs are not grassroots. They are not about community, or word-of-mouth. They really are about saturating the market with brands in order to generate interest in something, just the way old-fashioned advertising is. I don't mean to disparage the cleverness of ARGs — a lot of them are terrifically fun. But the ARGs that get noticed at a media event like Comic-Con are always going to be the ones with lots of resources behind them. To create a "grassroots feeling," you need to have a top-down corporation with wads of cash. So when you play an ARG associated with a commercial property, you are in some sense being deceived. You're being made to feel as if you've discovered something, as if you're part of a community spontaneously coming together to play at something, when in fact you've been targeted by an extremely well-funded marketing campaign.

Or maybe it's a plot by Elegiac International to control your minds and corrupt your heroes. Yeah, I like that version of the story better.

Good News for Juliet Fans

Matt: Hope? Sure. It's just a matter of where (back on the island, I can only assume) and when (perhaps as early as this coming season, at least one source tells me). And for those fretting about Elizabeth Mitchell's future with the show, I am assured that Juliet figures very heavily into Season 5. Me, I see her and Sawyer (wet and shirtless or even dry and clothed) taking charge as Locke and his band of worshippers move forth with whatever cockamamy plan they have in mind.

Season 5 by Mr. Snuffleupagus

Warning: Contains mild spoilers.

Based on the hints we already have for season 5, it's becoming apparent that the series will not play out with flashforwards and flashbacks, and will instead focus on at least 3 differnt primary locations in both time and space, and perhaps more.

The easiest location to identify and define is the real world and time location where the O6 are located. Desmond, Widmore, Ben, Walt, and "Jeremy Bentham" are all there as well.

The second location will be the Island, and while it is hard to define exactly when or where it is, we do know that Locke and the remaining hostiles/others are with him. It is very likely that Sawyer, Juliet, and the researchers are also there, but they may in fact be located in a very different time, while still being on the island.

The 3rd setting will be in the past, during the time of the Dharma Initiative, Hallowax, the Purge, Alpert, and a Rousseau who has just crashed. It may be that Locke and his crew have come to this time as well, or that Sawyer and Juliet have, or even both or neither, but regardless this setting will be important in explaining the backstory of the island and several of its major longstanding characters.

This season we will learn the story of Rousseau and consequently about the roll of the supposed "sickness". We will learn about Marvin Candle/Hallowax and the true focus of the initiative projects, including the numbers. We will get to follow Richard Alpert and find out why he has been recruiting Locke, Ben, Juliet, and others. We'll see all of this during the focus on the island's past.

Meanwhile in the present, the 06 will be focused on action, and getting back to the island. The 6 will gradually move to together and learn about the need to get back and how to do it. Through Sun, we'll find out the intent of Widmore and his relationship to Ben, and in the end the 6 will determine that going back is the only way to overturn the "bad things" that Jeremy Bentham described and they will make it back in time to face whatever awaits them in season 6.

What awaits them, is the fallout from those "bad things" that Jeremy Bentham told them about, and the 3rd focus on Locke and his group of other's will show us what happened during the absense of the 06. This group perhaps has the most questions to answer, as we don't know where or when they are, what Locke's goals are, what happened to them, or even why it matters.

And still there are a number of wildcards. Where is sawyer or daniel? Is Jin alive? Surely Desmond isn't out of the picture, but what will he have to do with the 06? How about Frank? These players may be parts of the 3 primary focus areas, or they may operate independently.

Either way, at this end of this season, we will know the intent of the Dharma Initiative, the remaining character backstories will be filled in, and the O6 will be back on the island with a nearly complete knowledge of their true purpose.

Season 6 will be set up then for them to finally act on this purpose. Whether they are to correct a flaw in time, to prevent the end of humanity, or to protect some ancient culture or secret, the events of season 5 will be the last step in establishing the rolls of each character which have been trying to figure out since Pilot Part 1. We will finally see how each of them has been set up to accept whatever destiny they have, how each of them was brought together, and how they are ultimately connected.

Season 6 will then be the true story. Everything until now has set up the ultimate battle or confrontation over the Island's purpose. In season 6 we'll see the final showdown between Ben and Widmore, Locke and Jack, The Losties and the Hostiles.

16 'Lost' Celebs picnic in the park

Young stars who played Baby Aaron on Season 4 of 'Lost' have their day

Yesterday at Kapi'olani Park, 16 former celebrities and more than twice that number of friends, assorted family members and hangers-on proved it's best to be a has-been before you recall being famous in the first place.

If nothing else, fame in moderation makes for an impressive scrapbook when you're old enough to know what all the fuss was about. Meanwhile, the picnics can be a riot.

Thus, 13 girls and three boys who all played the role of Aaron on Season 4 of the popular series "Lost" ate, laughed, cried, frolicked, and did all the things babies are known to do. In this case, they each fit a remarkably similar bill — round-headed, blond-haired cuties clad in black "Baby Aaron" T-shirts.

On the "Lost" series, Aaron is the mysterious child of the character Claire, who was pregnant when she survived a plane crash on an island where the series takes place.

But although Aaron is a boy, most of those who have portrayed him have been of the gentle persuasion.

"Females tend to have the rounder face and they don't age as quickly," said Julie Carlson, the "Lost" extras casting director who has rounded up a total of 76 different babies to play Aaron on the series since the show's second season. "Plus, the boys squirm more."

Some bundles of joy arrived at the picnic bearing gloating rights. Sabrina Baker, at 11 months and 14 days, had cover girl credits.

"She has been on the cover of TV Guide," said Sabrina's mom, Ann Baker, who suggested to Carlson that a Season 4 "Baby Aaron" picnic would be a delightful idea.

"Actually, she was inside TV Guide, too, and Entertainment Weekly, and she had tiny pictures in People and US magazine."

Then there was birthday baby, Lily Loose, who turned 1 yesterday and was all smiles and funny noises as she gleefully munched a cracker to a messy pulp. Her folks, Lori and Jay Loose, were among several military sets of parents at the picnic.

"How'd we get into show business?" said Lori with a laugh. "We saw the article that Julie put in the paper looking for blond-haired, blue-eyed babies. Lily was only 4 weeks old at the time, and my husband called me and said we ought to check this out. And we did, and she had her audition."

Carlson, whose search for 10- to 17-pound babies with the right look never ends, said the audition basically consists of seeing how well the babies react to the hubbub of the film set. Some infants, such as Loose, are laughers. Others, such as Josie Weinert, 12 months and 12 days, are cryers.

"She's been in some stressful scenes," said Weinert's mom, Nino Fiorentino. "And she cried in every one. She doesn't usually cry. See, that was acting."

Sure enough, during the pandemonium of a group shot of all the babies, there was much angst, confusion and fussing. Several babies attempted to flee in apparent horror. But Josie was cool and composed throughout, apparently preferring to weep on cue.

"Everybody switch," quipped Patrice Scott, a "Lost" nurse, during the group shot. "Pick the baby you really want!"

Most offspring wound up with their original parents.

Meanwhile, Carlson was still recruiting. Emerson Reifsteck, the eldest babe at the bash at 16 months, nearly staged a comeback.

"I might be able to use Emerson again," said Carlson, sizing up the child. "How much does she weigh?"

But Emerson weighed in at a almost 20 pounds.

"Right now we're not ready to go over 17 pounds," explained Carlson.

Moments later, Carlson lifted Julia Mueller, a 9-month-old 17-pounder who was in the fourth season finale. Carlson said she'd like to use Julia in Season 5.
Gina Mueller, Julia's mom, was ecstatic.

"She's kind of a peanut," said Mueller. "I have a cat that weighs a half-pound more than she does."

The trick would be to make sure Julia stays leaner than the cat.

"No more Froot Loops for you," Mueller told Julia, who merely cooed and giggled at the prospect.

New Blog Header Addition

I have been working on this for awhile now thinking that I was going to replace Karl for a Header, but the more that I thought about it the more that I felt that while this new one was good, it doesn't symbolize the Blog Title "Room 23". Also I couldn't bare to part with Karl. So I decided to use both! So I hope that you like it. I put a bigger copy here so that you can click on it to study it. I went back & forth with Adobe Illustrator transparencies finding a good balance between seeing the inside of the Hatches and having the island look like an island and perspective working well. For the most part I'm happy with it, but I'll probably always be going back & tweaking it.

Oh and for those who ask wheres the Wall hatch or where the Arrow hatch or the barracks or anything else my answer is Its on the other side of the island.I mostly focused on Hatches and left out ones that I felt were less important.

So last week after some LOST fans found Jesse Heiman (Dan Bronson) on Facebook, I decided to search MySpace and found him.

Well I sent him a message and he has finally ummm replied. Whether this is a hint or what this all means I have no idea, but maybe you all can figure it out. Maybe something happened in November in Utah or he is just being evasive?

He does have a photo album titled Utah on MySpace, but nothing out of the ordinary that I could see.

Does the Dharma Initiative not want us anymore? It has been more than a week now since the site launched.

Most of us logged in last night (a week later) anxiously waiting and refreshing our screens every 5 seconds like a good Lostaholic would do, but sadly we got nothing. Is this a test of our patience?

Lost appears unique in the degree to which it has absorbed the influence of video games. Lost captures the specifically over-loaded sense of place and a talismanic weight accorded to objects.

In Lost, the discovery of new locations generally serves a narrative function

Given The Island’s overall lack of man-made clutter and its delimited geography, the objects and places that are of importance are granted a sort of iconic value

When Locke discovers the hatch, for example, we’re feeling, basically, just like we do when we encounter a door that we can’t open. We try throwing everything that we have at it but it’s not enough. Aall items in games, as in Lost, are potentially keys. Locke had not yet been to “The Black Pearl” and, therefore, had not found the dynamite. Ssignificant as it epitomizes the relationship of “place” to “item”

In other instances, this talismanic value of objects is exaggerated by allegorical design, as with the Virgin Mary icons full of heroin.

It’s not coincidental that the finales of Seasons one, two, and four were all accompanied by the appearance of important new locations: The Black Pearl and the opening of the Hatch, The Looking Glass, and The Orchid.

Lindelof has cited Myst as a particular influence and the stylistic parallels between that game and the Lost set design (specifically of the Dharma Initiative stations) is startling and significant.

As a “virtual” landscape, The Island is bordered on all sides by an impassable boundary, the ocean. The ability to leave The Island requires a particular item/code combination: a boat and, more importantly, the bearing.

Lost and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Another Holy Union

Hi gang. I came across this video of the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" ComicCon panel on AICN. Wondering what this has to do with "Lost"? Well it turns out the panel was hosted by our very own Damon Lindelof and there's is a brief exchange about whether Aldo (played by Sunny's Rob McElhenney), the Other last scene being knocked out by Sawyer during the "Wookie Prisoner routine," would make an appearance again. It sounds like it may be possible.

Jorge Garcia Confirms Doing a Commentary on S4 DVD

Hi Jorge,

I was wondering if we could have any chance to see you do a commentary for your episode or maybe "there is no place like home" or another episode, just i love commentary and i think it could be cool if you made one , i hope too emerson and terry will do one ^^ and why not evangeline, i love her in commentary, i remember the one she made last year with josh and carlton ^^ but i can't ask them so i ask you to startI hope too we'll see you in the lost location for some episodes i enjoyed so much the lost location for "Tricia Tanaka is Dead" !!thank in advance

Daniel Dae Kim Spotted in Hawaii!?

Was in the Nike shop in Waikiki today and happened to run into Daniel Dae Kim. We had a brief conversation and he told me that he is back for filming and that he and Matthew Fox were going to be the first to shoot scenes for this upcoming season. He also said that he has been told although he will not be as prominent this season when he does feature it will be at "Pivotal points in the story" In all the excitement I didn't realize at the time that his character got blown up! Now i'm not a subscriber to the Jin is still alive theory but could we have a repeat of last seasons premiere with Charlie coming back from the dead?

Started out as a Dharma man-hole (or hatch) cover, but once I screen-capped it it reminded me of the X-Files flying saucer poster so I added the slogan.

Travels With Hurley

Okay, this is only marginally Lost related in that I drew the original 3-D Sketch-Up picture of the VW Microbus on the night of the Hurley's Van episode. With all the Photoshop filters added you probably can't read that the license plate number is NCC-1701 which, as you all know, is the late Mr. Nakamura's license plate number on Heroes. Maybe I'll take another try at this subject some time put it on a green hill and replace the peace symbol with a Dharma emblem. Or maybe not.

Hair-Apparent?

I know from a LOST chat or two there is still some uncertainty over Henry Ian Cusack real-life hair style - long or short. The Constant did such a fine job in transition, it is hard to tell.

The "Roma Fiction Festival" was held on July 12th, so if this picture is from this year's event, then we have an answer as to the Desmond Do...

Dharma 08 vid. The baby is Charlotte? Erm…NOPE!

Miles is the only person that appears not to have an actual reason for being there.

Ok, when Chang asks whoever to take the baby outside, he refers to the baby as a he.
We all assume the baby is Charlotte because she is the one who mentions that she is trying to find out where she is born.

What also struck me was, if the baby had been Charlotte and other theories are Dan is the father, why would Cheng be so forceful about the baby if it had not been his. You would assume someone else would get the baby outside.

All 4 of the friegher people have a reason to be on the island: Daniel, in some form wants to study the island, or wants to help the DI; Lapidus was supposed to be the pilot of 815, so he maybe hoping to find the pilot who he knew; and Charlotte is looking for where she was born. Miles is the only person that appears not to have an actual reason for being there. The only thing we know about him, is that he can talk to dead people.

My theory is, the baby in the Dharma ComicCon 08 video, is Miles, and Cheng is the father. Miles is there to talk to his dead dad.

The Redemption of Michael Dawson - Part Three

Based upon the idea and outline of the LOST AICN TB crew member Node/HoboCode, this project brings us the Michael Dawson arc throughout the show LOST.

Part Three starts with Michael's contact with who believes is Walt on the Swan's code computer. It ends with the deal with the devil for which his story of redemption is built upon.

The End (Finally) OF the Longest Poll in History

Actually, I have no idea if the heading is true, but it certainly feels true as this was the longest running poll in Room 23 history.

I guess it is reassuring as many people will be showering as rewatching the entirety of LOST from the beginning. I had planned on showering, but then hitting the pharmacy to make like Jack. I've seen Battlestar and Dexter is less than 2 months away. I guess I should have included, "All of the Above".

Speaking of the official Room 23 "Watchback", it is hard to believe we are still in season 1 and we will have blazed through all four seasons before a new episode of LOST airs.

Uncontrollable sobbing ensues. Time for another trip to Walgreens. Wait up, Jack.

Watchback: In Translation

I like this episode where so many things seem one way are revealed to be another way. You could say that this was one of Losts first "Gamechangers" The episode revolves around the raft and how it was burned and who did it. Jin was the probable culprit since he had fought with Michael over Sun and over the watch when it was actually Walt who did it because he wanted to stay on the island and keep getting his Dads attention. But at the end of the episode we see the start of a great friendship between Jin & Michael.

For a long time we thought that Jin was a abusive jerk and that Sun was a throw rug, but then we found out that Sun had been lying about speaking english and later about an affair and being the one responsible for Jin having to work for her Father and that Jin is actually a kind and honorable man.

Its also interesting that Locke plays detective so to speak about the raft when later we find out that he had prevented Sayid's attempt at getting off the island. But it was more interesting that he was able toke read Walt like a book in figuring out that he had been the one to set the raft on fire.

So many changes in relationships in this episode including the Shannon Sayid relationship. I never really saw them together, but to each his own. I would have prefered Kate & Sayid.

The best part was the moment after Sun yelled her first public words in english there was the very brief shocked look on her face like what have I done. Then she gained composure and stopped Sawyer from beating Jin up. Which after seeing Jin go all bruce Lee on Mikial I was wondering why he didn't defend himself, his abilities probably could have wasted Sawyers street fighting. But he probably didn't want to look more guilty.
