Are you ready for Lost-a-pa-looza!?!
Plans are coming into place for the festivities surrounding the series finale of ‘Lost,’ as the beloved mystery drama gets a grand send-off of epic proportions.
I’ve tallied the details below for My Dear Losties, so you can plan your ‘Lost’ finale parties appropriately (don’t forget to go to CostCo and buy a case of Kleenex, then hit the Liquor Mart for two cases of booze, because we’re going to need to drown our sorrows in a boatload of Mai Tais).
The ‘Lost’ weekend of May 23 (5/23, ‘23′ is a Number, ‘5′ is a recurring theme) is so jam packed with All Things Lost, it’s like an eight-hour finale (that’s a Number).
‘Lost’ is going out with what is sure to be a mind-blowing series finale, and because there’s so much Lostie goodness involved, ABC has expanded the final episode to a two-and-a-half hour series finale on Sunday, May 23.
The series finale, called ‘The End,’ will be immediately followed by a live special, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost,’ which will feature a bunch of cast members, as well as alternative final scenes.*
*NOTE: It’s unclear whether these segments will be actual scenes shot by producers for the show (perhaps as decoys) or if they will be comedic skits produced by huge ‘Lost’ fan Jimmy Kimmel in conjunction with the creators.
According to the release:
Kimmel will be joined in the studio by Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell, Alan Dale, Jeremy Davies, Emilie de Ravin, Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O’Quinn and Harold Perrineau, with special appearances by Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly and an exclusive look at THREE ALTERNATIVE FINAL SCENES from the minds of executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.
My mind is churning over why Josh Holloway (Sawyer), Evangeline Lilly (Kate) and Jorge Garcia (Hurley) are phrased as ’special appearances,’ which are rumored to be pre-taped. It could mean nothing, of course. Or could it mean, they’re dead?!?
Now let’s put our over-analysis caps on and talk about who’s missing from ‘The List.’ Is it simply because the actors were unavailable (who would miss this party, seriously?!), or does it portend something about the character’s fate?
Here’s who’s not on ‘The List’: Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), Sonya Walger (Penny), Dominic Monaghan (Charlie), Yunjin Kim (Sun), Ken Leung (Miles) and Jeff Fahey (Lapidus). No cameos by the Man in Black (Titus Welliver) or Jacob (Mark Pellegrino) either.
One noteworthy inclusion on ‘The List’: Jeremy Davies… does this mean Daniel Faraday may have a pivotal part in the final hours? (I, for one, hope so.)
*And true to their assertions, Lindelof and Cuse will not be in studio, as they have sworn they’re ‘going into hiding’ after the series finale airs.
Here’s the schedule of events for the ‘Lost’ weekend:
♥ See how it all began: The two-hour ‘Lost’ pilot episode airs Saturday, May 22, at 8 p.m./est. Note: This debut episode will be ‘enhanced’ with ‘pop-ups’–and they aren’t totally useless–occasionally there are helpful tidbits revealed in those captions that even we die-hard fans may have missed the first time around.
♥ ‘Lost: The Final Journey’ – a two-hour retrospective — begins at 7 p.m./est on Sunday, May 23.
♥ The super-sized ‘Lost’ series finale airs from 9 to 11:30 p.m./est on Sunday, May 23.
♥ The post-finale special ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost’ airs at 12:05 a.m./est.
