The Room 23 MoyaCast: Episode 1

Submitted for your approval, the first of Room 23's Official Blog Cast...or as we are calling them, MoyaCasts. The first episode, well in truth, was quite rough around the edges. There are some background noise and organizational issues that will be ironed out for our next broadcast, more focus on prearranged topics, and more efficient turn-taking.

So - now I have listed some of the things we will fix (and if you have ant constructive criticism PLEASE feel free to load up the comments section below), I will tell you why we decided to go ahead, keep a stiff upper lip to criticism and post it anyway. It is obvious we have a fun group of friends that care a great deal about each other. In truth - we love each other. Those feeling came about through the camaraderie of the AICN TB, Room 23 blog, especially Room 23 chat, and now our Skype sessions where Room 23 Chat becomes so much more personal and real. And that is where the blogcast had it's Genesis. We enjoy each other so much, in time, as we become more professional in our approach to recording (while holding on to the improvisational touches of commentary and humor), we just might have something special here.

So, hang on with us through our growing pains and try to enjoy the show for what it is. i f you have topic suggestions, please submit them. We will maintain our current cast but would like to bring in a guest every week from the Room 23 / AICN TB family. So be ready! And one more small disclaimer - as you heard in the intro, we will be covering a variety of science fiction shows, from Farscape to Dollhouse and Fringe and even Dr. Who. Our MAIN focus will ALWAYS be Lost and when they are in full swing we will devote much of the broadcast to our favorite show. But we will (especially when the show is in hiatus) hit other programs. I will put a poll up here: Do you want to hear every episode of the Room 23 MoyaCast, even when the show is not about Lost? Give us your honest answer.

Thank you for listening. For BarfyDog, RedFishBlueFish, Gotilk, Gepta, and myself, Edshrinker, we hope you enjoy listening to our dren half as much as we enjoyed making it.

I'd have to assume that if you're using the Room 23 name for a sci-fi/fantasy discussion roundtable made up of commentators recruited from within the Room 23 ranks, then anything you choose to discuss would be of interest to anyone visiting this blog - and only one mouse-click to the stop button away for anyone who disagrees.

As long as you can keep it to topics of at least tangential interest to Lost fans (which would probably include most sci-fi and fantasy TV, film and comics, plus Lost cast members appearances elsewhere and related entertainment news), that opens up a wide range of topics to discussion, even your beloved Muppet Show.

And it would be rude, immature and childish of anyone to challenge you for your taste in entertainment. By the way, ABC's been rerunning Eli Stone on Saturdays in case you missed it the first time through. Smiley face emoticon.

Your disclaimer indicates you're well aware of the areas that need work. You might want to narrow the specific focus of future installments and distribute a topic list in advance so the participants can organize their thoughts on the subject du jour.

Personally, my only suggestion would be to follow Mark Evanier's newsfromme.com model and anytime you link to something more than about five or ten minutes in length you post the running time to give listeners or viewers advance warning so they'll know how much time they'll need to invest.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun - good luck with the future endeavors.

I would prefer that anything posted on the blog have something to do with Lost. It can venture into other shows, but it needs to have at least some section of it devoted to Lost.
