The 2008 ALMA Awards Low-Down

Many of us remember those back-in-the-day moments, when we barely witnessed any diversity on our favorite television shows or movies, which is why American Latino Media Arts (ALMA) receives props for honoring our presence and importance in entertainment. We may love to hate on a couple of estrellas, but the fact is that they are here to trash talk for many years to come!
This year’s awards will be hosted by Eva Longoria, who is also a part of the selection committee. The “Desperate Housewives”
actress spoke about erasing her name from the ballot and her take on Latinos in the limelight.

“Everybody knows Desperate Housewives, let’s recognize the people that you may not know on certain shows. I’m involved in the balloting and the selection process and the committee. So for me it was a conflict of interest.”

“I think the only person that I knew who was Latino when I was growing up was Rita Moreno on West Side Story. There weren’t a lot of Latino role models.”

Even Eva realizes that she is over-rated! Not a bad call.

Make sure to check out the ALMA Awards on Friday, September 12 at 8PM ET on ABC.

Cool article, good link. But if you're going to highlight performers with a "Lost" connection don't forget that Lana Parrilla of "Swingtown" was Greta down in the Looking Glass Station before Mikhail shot her and Bonnie and killed Charlie.
