Smile, you son of a... Chief Brody jumps into the game!

Now, Mr. Cuse and Mr Lindelhoff, Napoleon Park has submitted 5 excellent questions in the post below you, so if you would, PLEASE answer these first before moving on (somebody else, please - we want every one to have a chance to play Darlton!).

That being said, THE CHEIF has cast his line and on it are 5 game changing questions that will quite possibly cause all to solve the mysteries you have tried so hard to protect! Tough Noogies! A deal is a deal and the player who takes on the mantle of Darlton must answer with all the knowledge and insight he (or she) posesses - even close your eyes and try to channel Miles style the essence of team Darlton. Brody may even choose to let you go if the answers are satisfactory. Good Luck!

#5. How much of the story arc/endgame did you have completed while shooting Season One? In other words, did you have it all figured out BEFORE the show became a hit...or did you have to scramble AFTER Lost became a hit?

#4. What's the deal with Alvar Hanso. When we see him in "Orientation" he looks like an old banker dude. But in Rachel's ARG game, he doesn't look anything like the guy in the window. How much of a part will Alvar himself play in the endgame?

#3. The numbers. Will their true significance ever be revealed?

#2. Has any cast member been killed off due to fan complaints about the character(s) How much influence do the fans of the show have on the writing?

#1. Multiple Choice: The mysteries on Lost can best be explained by which of the following?

A. Fact & Hard Science

B. Fact & Pseudo-Science

C. Hard Science & Fantasy/Sci-Fi

D. Pseudo-Science & Fantasy/Sci-Fi

We had a beginning and end worked out. we've always known the final scene. But once we had a top five hit on our hands and no idea of what our end date would be, we knew we'd have to "fill" and stretch. Not that any episodes were actual "filler", but he had a large enough cast that we could have introduced characters and made up relevant stories for years.

We love games and novels and web sites and fan forums and webisodes and podcasts... but if it's not on the show, it's not canon. Hanso was a founder of the Dharma Initiative and Ben Linus killed the Dharma group on the Island, so that whole part of the story is pretty much a dead end.

#3. The numbers. Will their true significance ever be revealed?

Dharma developed a device to control the Island's electromagnetic flux. It had to be triggered no less than every 108 minutes and no more than every 100 minutes so a code was devised - a series of six numbers adding up to 108. This was important enough to be inscribed on the hatch door. It was used in Danielle's distress call because she thought it would help identify the location, and was heard by someone who repeated it to someone who told Hurley about it. That he played the numbers in the lottery and won was a coincidence - some number has to win, right? They're not jinxed. And the numbers showing up on visas, wanted posters, hotel doors, phone numbers, cheerleader sweaters and so on was just us having a little fun with the fans. All coincidence, the way a dollar bill serial number usually has a good poker hand in it.

We've addressed this frequently, but yes, Nikki and Paulo were killed off earlier than we planned directly due to their negative acceptance factor among the fans. Whether other cast members have been fired for infringing on Hawaii traffic laws is something we have to be evasive about for legal reasons. We read the fan theories - some are way off base, other's are surprisingly astute and close to what we have planned. We donlt borrow from them and they don;t directly affect what we're doing, as a rule. the Nikki and paulo incident was a rare exception.

When we sat down to read JJ's original concept we went in thinking the show might adhere to fact and hard science, but once we saw some of the things he had in mind we realized that a lot of it would have to be covered by D., pseudo science and sci-fi/fantasy. Once we saw that drifty opening credits thing he did on his laptop, though, we knew he always meant for this to be a Twilight Zone type show and I think fan reaction has shown that he knew what he was doing.
